Gathers thousands of Dominicans in Juan Pablo Duarte Park in Miami
By Isidro Barros, Miami Florida. In order to pay tribute to Dominicanness in the Allapattah neighborhood (a sector densely populated by Quisqueyans), the Dominican American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (DACC FL) held a festival where music, gastronomy, art and Dominican culture.
The first “Little Santo Domingo Festival” took place on April 16 of last year, with the attendance of thousands of people in the Juan Pablo Duarte Park of this city, where a musical tribute was paid by saxophonist Luis Disla. and from the flutist Néstor Torres to the Dominican producer and composer Johnny Pacheco, director of the famous Fania All Stars.
Admission to the musical event was free for all attendees, which had the support of the City of Miami and the commissioner of District #1, Alex Díaz de la Portilla, as well as the Florida Dominican-American Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Hialeah.
During it, attendees were able to enjoy the presentation of the Hermanos Rosario orchestra and the combo of maestro Alejandro Vargas “Colita.” Also the folk music of the typical group the Merengueros de Quisqueya of Guillermo Guante and the singer Yuly Fabián and his orchestra.
The event was attended by Lic. Johnny Matthwes Estrella and Dr. Pedro Mora, President and Director of the DACC FL, respectively, also the Consul General of the Dominican Republic Lic. Geanilda Vásquez, accompanied by Soledad Cruz from INDEX and the vice consuls Dr. Luis Lasosé and Saghie Balcácer, among other officials.
In addition to the music, there was an exhibition of Dominican arts and crafts, folk dance samples, a Domino tournament and a purely Dominican gastronomic presentation by Chef Danny of the Yarumba Restaurant.

DACC celebra Festival “Little Santo Domingo”
Reúne miles de Dominicanos en parque Juan Pablo Duarte en Miami
MIAMI, Florida. Con la finalidad de rendir un tributo a la dominicanidad en el barrio de Allapattah (sector densamente poblado por quisqueyanos), la Cámara de Comercio Dominico Americana de la Florida (DACC FL) realizó un festival donde brilló la música, la gastronomía, el arte y la cultura dominicana.
El primer “Little Santo Domingo Festival”, se llevó a cabo el 16 de abril del pasado año, con la asistencia de miles de personas en el Parque Juan Pablo Duarte de esta ciudad, donde se rindió un homenaje musical a cargo del saxofonista Luis Disla y del flautista Néstor Torres al productor y compositor dominicano Johnny Pacheco, director de la famosa Fania All Stars.
La entrada al evento musical fue gratuita para todos los asistentes, que contó con el apoyo de la Ciudad de Miami y el comisionado del Distrito #1, Alex Díaz de la Portilla, así como la Cámara de Comercio Domínico-Americana de Florida y la Cámara de Comercio e Industrias de Hialeah.
Durante el mismo, los asistentes pudieron disfrutar de la presentación de la orquesta de los Hermanos Rosario y el combo del maestro Alejandro Vargas “Colita”. También la música folclórica del conjunto típico los Merengueros de Quisqueya de Guillermo Guante y el cantante Yuly Fabián y su orquesta.
El evento contó con la asistencia del Lic. Johnny Matthwes Estrella y del Dr. Pedro Mora, Presidente y Director de la DACC FL, respectivamente, también la Cónsul General de la República Dominicana Lic. Geanilda Vásquez, acompañada de Soledad Cruz del
INDEX y de los vice cónsules Dr. Luis Lasosé y Saghie Balcácer, entre otros funcionarios.
Además de la música, se presentó una exhibición de arte y manualidades dominicanas, muestras de bailes folclóricos, un torneo de Dominó y una presentación gastronómica netamente dominicana a cargo del Chef Danny del Yarumba Restaurant.
